Why do I need to know this?
Writing is more formal than speaking. So, when you write, you need to be able to clearly express your ideas and let people know where your thoughts begin and end. You can't assume that the reader knows what you are talking about. Because of this, you need to write complete sentences that include a subject and a predicate. You also have to use correct capitalization and punctuation in order to get your message across correctly.
